A trustee was appointed to Van Metropolitan Municipality. Many people, including journalists, were taken into custody.

Following the prison sentence given to Van Metropolitan Municipality co-mayor Abdullah Zeydan, the Ministry of Interior appointed Van’s governor, Ozan Balcı, as trustee of the municipality.
Van Metropolitan Municipality was usurped for the first time after the 31 March 2024 local elections, but the decision was withdrawn after resistance developed in the city.
While the vigil against the 3 year and 9 month prison sentence given to co-mayor Abdullah Zeydan continued, hundreds of police raided the municipality in the early hours of the morning.
JINNEWS journalist Rabia Önver, Mezopotamya Agency (MA)journalists Bilal Babat and Mehmet Güleş, and journalists Medine Mamedoğlu and Behçet Bayhan were taken into custody while following the news. The journalists were subjected to police harassment.
Many people, including Amed Metropolitan Municipality co-mayor Doğan Hatun, were taken into custody. Hatun was released.
