Forced to flee to Europe in 2013, Kurdish activist Ahmet Dikmen was detained by Spanish police in front of his home in the Valencia region of Spain. He now faces deportation to Turkey.

Ahmet Dikmen has been active in democratic politics in Mardin, Konya, and Istanbul since the 1990s, working in various fields for over 30 years. He was repeatedly detained and subjected to torture. He lost one sibling and two nephews in the struggle.
In 2013, due to 20 sentences issued by Turkish courts, he was forced to flee to Europe. The Kurdish activist, who has been living in exile for 13 years, was detained by Spanish police in front of his home in the Valencia region of Spain.
Despite all efforts by his family, his whereabouts remain unknown. It was reported that Dikmen called his daughter, saying, “They are going to hand me over to Turkey,” before his phone was disconnected.
The Kurdish activist’s family stated that they have visited numerous official institutions, but they have been unable to reach Ahmet Dikmen and are deeply concerned.
The Dikmen family has issued a call for public support and sensitivity.
