As attacks by the interim Damascus government forces against Suwayda continue, the Druze Community Spiritual Presidency issued a statement calling on the international community to fulfill its humanitarian and moral responsibilities, emphasizing the need to protect the Druze people.
The statement said, “We appeal to the free world and its influential powers. We direct this call to US President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Jordan’s King Abdullah II, and everyone else with influence around the world: Save Suwayda.”
The community denounced the systematic attacks against the Druze people, saying, “Our people are being brutally murdered. Everyone is being killed, regardless of whether they are women, children, the elderly, doctors, or sheikhs. Places of worship and churches are being destroyed. The world is turning a blind eye to all that is happening. Horrific massacres are being carried out.”
The Spiritual Presidency stated that “the tyrannical regime in Damascus has lost its legitimacy and knows only how to rule with weapons and fire,” calling on the Sunni community to take a clear stance against these actions.
Stressing that relations between Syrians should be based on brotherhood rather than hostility, the statement concluded with the following words: “This appeal is not political, but humanitarian and moral. Save the people who are being killed simply for demanding life and dignity.”
