Television presenters Tess Daly and Vernon Kay have announced the end of their 22-year marriage, confirming in a joint public statement that they are separating amicably while remaining focused on co-parenting their children.
The couple, who married in 2003 and became one of British television’s most recognisable partnerships, shared the news through social media on Friday. In their statement, they emphasized that the decision had been made mutually and clarified that no third party was involved.
In the wake of the announcement, Daly appeared to take steps to limit public speculation by disabling comments on her recent Instagram posts. The move comes as interest surrounding the split continues to grow online following the unexpected revelation.
The separation arrives less than a year after Daly stepped away from hosting Strictly Come Dancing, a role she had held since 2004 and which helped establish her as one of the BBC’s most familiar faces.
The news has surprised many fans, particularly as the pair had continued making public appearances together in recent months. Earlier this year, they co-hosted an episode of The One Show, where Kay warmly referred to Daly as “TV royalty” during the broadcast.
The family had also recently shared glimpses of time spent together on holiday. In January, Daly and Kay were photographed during a ski trip to Val d’Isère in the French Alps alongside their daughters. More recently, the family enjoyed a tropical getaway, with images showing the couple relaxing together on a beach just days before the separation announcement became public.
Despite ending their marriage, both presenters stressed that they remain on good terms and are committed to maintaining a strong family relationship.
Their statement described the separation as a difficult but carefully considered decision made with “care and respect” for one another. They added that their priority would continue to be providing love and support for their children as they move forward separately.
