Television and radio presenter Zoe Ball has confirmed she will not be taking over as a host of Strictly Come Dancing following the departures of longtime presenters Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.

The 55-year-old broadcaster addressed the speculation during an episode of her podcast, Dig It with Jo Whiley and Zoe Ball, where she reflected candidly on missing out on the role. Ball, who previously fronted the show’s companion programme It Takes Two, said she had come to terms with the outcome after being considered during the selection process.
Speaking about the decision, Ball joked that she had worked through the “seven stages of grief and rejection” over the past few days but insisted she was ultimately happy with the result.

The presenter also hinted that the chosen replacements would be well received by viewers, describing the incoming hosts as “fabulous” and saying the programme would remain in “safe hands.”
Speculation surrounding the future presenting line-up has intensified in recent weeks, with several high-profile television personalities linked to the role. Emma Willis is widely expected to lead the next era of the ballroom competition, although an official announcement has yet to be made.
Other names reportedly considered during the process include Angela Scanlon, Alex Jones and Rylan Clark. Meanwhile, entertainers such as Miranda Hart and Fleur East are understood to no longer be in contention.

Several other prominent television figures, including Alan Carr, Amanda Holden, Alison Hammond and Holly Willoughby, were also linked with the vacancy but are believed to have stepped away from discussions.
Despite missing out on the position, Ball described the experience positively and said she was pleased to have been considered among a strong field of candidates. She added that the extensive search process had drawn significant public attention and suggested there was relief within the production team now that a final decision had been reached.
The developments come shortly after the BBC confirmed the return of all four judges for the upcoming season, including Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Shirley Ballas.
An official announcement regarding the new presenting team is expected in the coming weeks.
