Melissa Gilbert has resumed posting on social media months after stepping away from Instagram in the wake of legal allegations involving her husband, Timothy Busfield. The actress has now returned with carefully managed updates, including limiting public interaction on several of her posts.
The former Little House on the Prairie star reactivated her Instagram presence earlier this month after deleting her account in January, shortly after authorities in Albuquerque issued an arrest warrant for Busfield over allegations of child sexual abuse.

Since returning to the platform on May 13, Gilbert has shared several personal updates focused on her daily life and animals at home. In one recent post, she uploaded short videos showing her dog and rabbit interacting indoors.
“Life lately… Sundance is OBSESSED with Billy Bibbit and vice versa,” she wrote alongside the clips, adding hashtags referencing the pets’ friendship.

The actress disabled comments on the post, a move that has become increasingly common across her recent uploads. Most of the content shared since her return has had public replies turned off, signaling an effort to avoid online backlash and unwanted commentary tied to the ongoing legal controversy surrounding her husband.
Another post with comments disabled featured a makeup-free selfie promoting a campaign connected to her Modern Prairie platform. In the caption, Gilbert reflected on embracing authenticity and resilience, using hashtags focused on perseverance and moving forward through difficult periods.

Her return to social media came weeks after she publicly addressed the situation for the first time during a television interview alongside attorney Larry Stein.
During the appearance, Gilbert described the emotional toll the allegations and public attention have had on their lives, saying the future they had envisioned together had been fundamentally disrupted. She also explained that the couple chose to speak publicly after what she described as extensive misinformation circulating online.
Busfield surrendered to authorities on January 13 after police issued a warrant connected to allegations involving two 11-year-old boys on the set of the television series The Cleaning Lady.
He faces two counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor and one count of child abuse.
Busfield has denied all accusations and has stated that he intends to fight the charges in court.
