Former child actress Daveigh Chase, known for her work in several major early 2000s films and television projects, has died at the age of 35 following complications linked to meningitis and a blood infection that developed into sepsis. Her passing was made public by her boyfriend, who also launched an online fundraising campaign seeking financial support for funeral arrangements.
The fundraising effort, created shortly after her death, has since drawn strong criticism from her former manager, John Ryan, who disputes the need for public donations. He stated that Chase’s estate and family have sufficient resources to cover end-of-life expenses and urged people not to contribute to the campaign, questioning its legitimacy and purpose.
Ryan further alleged that Chase’s boyfriend had brought her to hospital in a severely weakened condition and did not inform close family members until after her passing. He also claimed the fundraising campaign was initiated while she was already unresponsive in medical care, describing the situation as deeply concerning and inappropriate.
In addition, he expressed anger over what he believes is the use of Chase’s death for financial gain, stating that those close to the actress are distressed by the circumstances surrounding her final days. He also described her as kind-hearted, adding that she had faced personal struggles and difficult associations in recent years.
The boyfriend has rejected these allegations, stating that claims questioning the legitimacy of the fundraising effort are entirely false.
Daveigh Chase rose to prominence as a child star in the early 2000s, gaining recognition for voice roles in animated films as well as appearances in well-known live-action productions. She stepped away from Hollywood in later years, with her final screen appearances released in the mid-2010s.
