Authorities have not established whether the message is authentic, and they are currently assessing its credibility rather than treating its contents as confirmed evidence.
The latest development adds another layer to a disappearance that has already involved an extensive local and federal investigation, surveillance footage, ransom communications and repeated public appeals from Nancy’s daughter, Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, and other members of the family.

Nancy Guthrie disappeared after returning home
Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen at her home in the Catalina Foothills area of Tucson, Arizona, on the evening of January 31, according to information published by the FBI.
The FBI’s account places her return home at approximately 9:48 p.m. after family members brought her home following dinner.
She was reported missing the following day, February 1.
Authorities have said they believe Nancy was taken against her will, turning what initially appeared to be a missing-person investigation into a major criminal investigation involving the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and federal authorities.
Her age and medical needs have also made the search particularly urgent. The FBI describes Nancy as a vulnerable adult. She has difficulty walking, uses a pacemaker and requires daily medication for a heart condition.

According to the sheriff’s account, her doorbell camera disconnected at approximately 1:47 a.m. on February 1.
Roughly 40 minutes later, at 2:28 a.m., the application connecting her pacemaker to her phone also lost its connection.
Later that morning, relatives arrived at the property and discovered that Nancy was missing. A 911 call was made at 12:03 p.m.
Those digital and physical clues have helped investigators establish a timeline around the disappearance.
One of the most significant pieces of publicly released evidence came from surveillance footage recovered during the investigation. The FBI released video showing an armed individual apparently interfering with the camera at Nancy’s front door.
The agency has appealed to the public for help identifying the person shown in the footage.
Authorities have also said that blood discovered on Nancy’s front porch belonged to her.
