Emergency workers rescued more than 2,700 stranded people as the storm system moved east of İstanbul, bringing heavy rainfall to neighboring provinces.

The death toll from severe flooding in İstanbul rose to two overnight after a 34-year-old man died in the Sarıyer district, as authorities reported that the city had experienced its heaviest rainfall in 45 years.
The man, identified by the initials S.Y., slipped while attempting to cross floodwaters on Dereboyu Avenue, one of Sarıyer’s busiest streets. He struck his head on the curb and was unable to get out of the water.
Bystanders pulled him from the flooded street, but he died after being taken to a hospital.
Earlier, a 14-year-old child was electrocuted after stepping barefoot into a puddle in a park in the Fatih district.
The deaths came as torrential rain on Oct 14 caused widespread flooding, disrupted transportation and prompted thousands of evacuations across İstanbul.
