The Interfax news agency quoted an unnamed source as saying: “President Assad of Syria has arrived in Moscow. Russia has granted them (him and his family) asylum on humanitarian grounds.”
Russian media is reporting that Assad has arrived in Moscow and is being taken to an undisclosed location.
Russia has requested a closed-door UN security council meeting on Monday to discuss the UN peacekeeping mission in the Golan Heights, according to diplomats.
