A farewell ceremony will take place today in Galatasaray Square for Emine Ocak, a prominent figure among the Saturday Mothers.

The program for the funeral of Emine Ocak, a member of the Saturday Mothers who recently passed away, has been announced. A ceremony will be held today in Galatasaray Square, the symbolic heart of the Saturday Mothers’ decades-long struggle for justice. The ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. in Galatasaray Square. Following the tribute, Ocak`s remains will be taken to Gazi Cemevi at 4:00 p.m., and later laid to rest in Gazi Cemetery.
The Saturday Mothers shared a message on their X (formerly Twitter) account: “With her courage, persistence, and determination, Emine Ocak was the strongest voice in our struggle for truth and justice. We are bidding farewell to our mother Emine from Galatasaray Square, where she stood in resistance for 30 years.”
