As part of the Peace and Democratic Society Process, the National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission will this week hear testimonies from the relatives of those who were killed or disappeared during the years of conflict.
The commission’s first session will begin today at 14:00 with a presentation by Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş.
Following the minister’s address, representatives of associations and foundations working with the families of Turkish state security personnel killed or injured in clashes will share their views with the commission.
In the second session, the commission will hear from families who, during former Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu’s mandate, were organized to hold sit-in protests in front of the HDP Amed (Diyarbakır) Provincial Office.
Wednesday’s sessions will include testimonies from the Saturday Mothers and Peace Mothers, as well as from representatives of human rights organizations such as the Human Rights Association (IHD), MAZLUM-DER, IHH, and the Tahir Elçi Human Rights Foundation.
All sessions will be chaired by Speaker of Parliament Numan Kurtulmuş.
