As part of the city’s broader plan to make Heseke (Hesekê) a more livable place and to facilitate citizens’ access and mobility, the People’s Municipality of Heseke, under the Cizire (Cizîr) Canton, launched a new urban development project last week focused on Al-Mufti Street, one of the city’s busiest commercial areas.
Located in the Al-Mufti neighborhood, the street stretches from the Hemame Roundabout to the Martyr Serhed Roundabout. It is 504 meters long and 10 meters wide. Due to the high concentration of currency exchange offices, commercial shops, clothing and footwear stores, the street experiences significant daily traffic and pedestrian movement.
Project managers stated that the renovation will consist of three phases. In the first phase, all sidewalks and curbstones will be removed and replaced with interlock paving stones. These stones are not only durable but also enhance the aesthetic appeal of the street. The new layout will provide a wide and safe space for walking and transportation, including designated areas specifically designed for the elderly and people with disabilities. Entry for large vehicles will be prohibited, and only small private vehicles will be allowed access.
The second phase will focus on beautifying the street by planting various trees along its length and establishing designated seating areas.
In the third phase, a modern lighting system will be installed.
Due to the ongoing construction, both entrances to the street have been temporarily closed. Once the work is completed, the road will be reopened for small vehicles. Project officials told ANHA News Agency that the renovation work will proceed according to the planned schedule and that all necessary measures will be taken to minimize disruptions to residents and local businesses.
The completed project is expected to establish a model of active economic mobility and urban development that can later be implemented in other neighborhoods across the city.
