According to a statement by Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN), Kurdish environmental activist Arman Shadi Wend was sentenced to two years in prison by the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Ilam, East Kurdistan, on charges of “propaganda against the state” and “insulting state officials.”

Meanwhile, Radio Farda reported that Kurdish activist Menuchehr Felah, who was arrested during the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadî” uprising, has been sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of Rasht, presided over by Judge Derwêsh Goftar.

Felah is currently being held in Rasht Prison and was sentenced to execution under Article 687 of Iran’s Penal Code on charges of “rebellion and armed conflict.”

Arrested at Rasht Airport in July 2023, Felah was previously sentenced in December of the same year to 22 months in prison on charges of “insulting high-ranking state officials” and “propaganda against the state.”

Human rights organizations have strongly condemned these rulings as part of Iran’s systematic policies of oppression and have called on the international community to take urgent action.
