The Congress of Democratic Societies of Kurdistan in Europe (KCDK-E) condemned the usurpation of Dersim and Ovacık municipalities. Underlining that the usurpation of people’s will clearly targets the co-presidency system, KCDK-E called for active participation in all protests on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

The KCDK-E statement on Saturday said the following:

“The monist fascist alliance has once again revealed their hostile attitude towards the Kurdish people by usurping Dersim and Ovacık municipalities and the will of the people.

As the 25 November International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women approaches, this attack, which also targets the model in which women’s representation shakes their power, is remarkable. The co-presidency system and women’s will are clearly targeted.

All the values, culture and life rights of the Kurdish people are targeted by open genocidal attacks. Moreover, it is an attack against the people of Dersim, who have experienced the most painful massacres and have an honourable history.

The people of Dersim are wanted to be surrendered. The Kurdish people, who have never been subjugated at any stage of their history, are wanted to be subjugated. These are futile efforts. The enemies of the Kurds know very well that the people of Dersim have always stood firm against all kinds of oppression and persecution.

While the monist government deceived millions by making the fallacies of peace and internal peace an agenda, it has revealed its real occupying face with its trustee policies. They both usurp democratic rights and freedoms and talk about internal peace and democracy. It is a complete dream for the Kurdish people to believe these lies after all the oppression and persecution they have experienced. Trying to silence the Kurdish people with occupation and trusteeship is a futile endeavour.

As the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November approaches, we as the KCDK-E call for active participation in all the actions to be held all over Europe under the leadership of the Kurdish Women’s Movement in Europe (TJK-E) on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November against this wave of attacks targeting women’s will.”
