Şile mayor Özgür Kabadayı and four other municipal officials have been remanded in custody.

On July 10, Özgür Kabadayı, the CHP (Republican People’s Party) mayor of Şile in Istanbul, was taken into custody on charges of “forming a criminal organization,” “bribery,” “misconduct,” and “rigging public tenders.” The mayor has now been remanded in custody.
Others arrested alongside him include the municipality’s former Chief of Staff Oğuz Kaçmaz, Deputy Mayor Tuncay Tolga Özçakmak, Legal Affairs attorney Ali Şafak, and Zoning Permits Chief Evren Buçhan.
Aslı Kotan was released under judicial control.
With this latest arrest, the number of CHP-affiliated mayors currently in custody has risen to 17.
