The Women’s Culture, Art and Literature Association (KASED), which organizes cultural and artistic events in Amed, will present the “Women’s Surfest Festival”. The festival kicked off today and will last until 5 October in the Sur district of Amed.

The festival will see women presenting cultural and artistic events in their native language, and will also host events for women and children. KASED aims to bring native languages ​​together and preserve the historical and cultural memory of Sur with the festival.

The festival opened with Armenian and Kurdish melodies sung by women at the historical Surp Giragos Armenian Church in Sur. The festival will end with a concert to be given on 5 October, the date of the foundation of KASED. The two panels to be held within the scope of the festival will also be held via Zoom.

The Surfest program is as follows:

29 September: Artists Maral Ayvaz and Mizgin Turan will give a concert at the Surp Giragos Armenian Church.

30 September: A Story Workshop will be held for children at KASED.

1 October: A “Traditional street games” workshop will be held for children at ÇAND MA.

3 October: “The impact of art on immigrant youth” panel will be held with Meltem Avcil as speaker

3 October: “Kurdish music focused on refugee music” panel will be held with the participation of ethnomusicologist and author ED Emery.

5 October: JINMA and the Erbane group will take the stage at the Cemil Paşa Mansion.
