Three security personnel lost their lives and 15 others were injured in violent clashes that broke out last night in the city of Sulaymaniyah. The clashes began after the Sulaymaniyah Security Investigation Court issued an arrest warrant for Berey Gel (People’s Front) leader Lahur Şêx Cengî under Article 56 of the Iraqi Penal Code on charges of “endangering security and disrupting stability.”

When security forces attempted to enter the Lalezar Hotel, where Lahur Şêx Cengî was staying, armed fighting broke out between the two sides and continued for about three hours.

In the end, Lahur Şêx Cengî was detained along with his brothers Polad Şêx Cengî and Aso Şêx Cengî.

It was also reported that Rebwar Hamî Hacî Xalî, the overall commander of the armed forces affiliated with Berey Gel, surrendered.

During the clashes that took place late at night, 3 security personnel were killed, and 15 others were injured.

The wounded were taken to Shar Hospital for treatment, and their conditions were reported not to be critical. No official statement has yet been made regarding the losses of forces loyal to Lahur Şêx Cengî.
