The Kurdistan Human Rights Organization has warned that three Kurdish political prisoners sentenced to death have been transferred from Urmia Prison to another facility, raising fears that their executions could be carried out at any moment.

The prisoners, Pejman Sultani (30), Eli Soran Qasimi (28), and Rojgar Begzade (42), were moved to Sujan Central Prison in what rights advocates described as an unlawful transfer that “directly endangers their lives.”

Families of the detainees have appealed to Iranian judicial and security authorities for information but say they have received no response. Relatives also report that no contact has been possible since the transfer.

All three men were arrested by security forces during the ‘Jin, Jiyan, Azadî’ (‘Woman, Life, Freedom’) uprising that swept Iran in 2022. Their trials were held at the Urmia Revolutionary Court without legal representation and under what observers call grossly unfair conditions.

They were convicted on charges including “rebellion, forming anti-government groups, conspiracy against national security, and propaganda against the state”, accusations that rights groups say are routinely and arbitrarily leveled against Kurds and other dissidents.

The Kurdistan Human Rights Organization condemned the transfer as a blatant violation of international human rights norms and urged immediate action to prevent the executions.
