The International Commission of the Workers’ Party sent a letter to the Embassy of Turkey in Argentina in response to the international humanitarian initiative to visit Abdullah Öcalan.
Below, we share the letter sent to the Embassy of Turkey in Argentina regarding the international humanitarian initiative to visit Abdullah Öcalan (leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, PKK), who has been imprisoned for over twenty years on the prison-island of Imrali.
To: Minister of Justice of the Republic of Turkey, Yılmaz Tunç
Representative of the Republic of Turkey in Argentina, Ambassador Süleyman Ömür Budak
From the Republic of Argentina, we join personalities, individuals, and organizations from our country and around the world to express our support for the international humanitarian initiative to visit Abdullah Öcalan and other political prisoners on the prison-island of Imrali. At the same time, we join the demand for the recognition of the rights and freedom of all political prisoners in Turkey and the call for respect for democratic rights, against the repression being carried out against strikes and demonstrations opposing the government. We demand an end to the persecution and repression of the Kurdish people and respect for their political and self-determination rights.
