It’s officially that time of the year when music streaming services start giving users a look back at their listening habits for the year. YouTube Music announced on Monday that users can now access their 2024 Music Recap to get personalized stats regarding their top artists, songs, moods, genres, and more for the year.
You can access your 2024 Music Recap through the YouTube and YouTube Music app. You should see a banner inviting you to check out your recap, but if you don’t, you can navigate to your profile and then select the “Your Recap” option, and then tap “get your recap.”
This year’s YouTube Music Recap includes animated cards that are similar to those featured in Spotify’s Wrapped feature, which popularized the year-in-review format that services like YouTube Music and Apple Music later adopted.
While past YouTube Music Recaps have featured static images, this year’s recap provides more of an audiovisual experience that moves with the rhythm of your top songs.
YouTube Music is also introducing three new stats to let users further explore their listening habits. You will now get a personalized summary of your music taste over the past year. For example, YouTube Music may note that your listening habits this year were “moody” or “amped.”
Plus, you can see a timeline that highlights key moments from the year. For example, you may see that “January was your top month with Charli XCX,” or that “March was all kinds of happy, at least musically.”
YouTube Music will also assign you an alter-ego based on your top tracks and artists, such as “The Hometown Hero,” “The Life of the Party,” or “The Hopeless Romantic.”
In addition, this year’s YouTube Music Recap includes podcast highlights that will show you your top podcast of the year, along with a rundown of your top five.
Spotify and Apple Music are expected to roll out their yearly recaps in the coming weeks.
