Five officers were killed and several others injured in armed attacks on checkpoints of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in North-East Syria.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Internal Security Forces General Command said: “As a result of provocations by various circles seeking to cause unrest in Syria, particularly in northern and eastern Syria, through the media, terrorist groups attacked our forces’ checkpoint in Tabqa, injuring two of our members. On the morning of July 14, one of our checkpoints in Shaddadi was subjected to a treacherous attack which claimed the lives of five of our members.”
The statement continued: “Such attacks directed against the security of our society and aimed at destabilizing it will not shake our determination to fulfill our duty. We will continue our struggle with the same determination to ensure the safety of our people and maintain social peace. We will mobilize all our resources to prevent these groups and the forces behind them from achieving their goal of creating chaos throughout Syria, particularly in northern and eastern Syria.”
Internal Security Forces have launched a comprehensive investigation to identify the perpetrators of the attacks and bring those who support them to justice.
“As Internal Security Forces, we extend our deepest condolences to the families of our martyrs and our people, and wish our injured comrades a speedy recovery. Following in the footsteps of our martyrs, we once again emphasize our loyalty to the gains of our revolution and the values for which our people have sacrificed their lives,” the statement added.
