In the Xerbî neighborhood of Qamishlo, 5 self-defense battalions were established under the umbrella of the HPC.

Responding to the general mobilization call of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces), citizens in the Xerbî neighborhood of Qamishlo formed 5 battalions under the names of Martyr Cihan Bilgin, Avzem Çiya, Çiya Rûs, Şivan Ehmed and Bîlal Îbrahîm.
The establishment of the battalions was announced with a press statement at the 12 March Martyrs’ Stadium.
Leyla Elî, a member of the Social Defense Forces (HPC), read the statement and said that the battalions were established to protect the gains of the revolution and to support the SDF’s resistance at the Tishrin Dam.
The statement emphasized that the components in the neighborhood will protect the Kurdish, Arab, Syriac, Assyrian and Armenian areas from invasion attacks.
