Olympic swimming champion Adam Ramsay-Peaty is preparing for a new chapter in his career as he heads into the 2026 Commonwealth Games, where he will compete under his updated surname for the first time at a major international championship.
The decorated British breaststroke specialist married Holly Ramsay, daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, in December 2025. Following their wedding, the couple adopted the double-barrelled surname Ramsay-Peaty, marking a significant personal milestone alongside Adam’s return to elite competition.
The Glasgow-based Commonwealth Games will officially introduce the swimmer as Adam Ramsay-Peaty, ending nearly two decades of competing under the name Adam Peaty. His first event is the men’s 100m breaststroke on July 25, followed by the 50m breaststroke on July 27, where he will look to defend the title he won at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Ramsay-Peaty enters the competition with an outstanding Commonwealth Games record, having secured four gold medals and three silver medals throughout his career. His experience and success make him one of Team England’s leading medal contenders once again.
A New Identity After Marriage
Adam and Holly exchanged vows in a ceremony at Bath Abbey before celebrating with family and friends at Kin House in Wiltshire. Shortly after the wedding, the swimmer confirmed the surname change by updating his social media profiles to reflect his new identity.
The decision to share the Ramsay-Peaty surname was announced to close family shortly before the wedding and was described as a modern approach that celebrated both families equally.
Growing Family Adds to Celebrations
The couple’s milestone-filled year continued when they revealed they are expecting their first child together. In June, Adam and Holly announced they are preparing to welcome a baby girl later in 2026, sharing the joyful news with supporters through social media.
Holly has also spoken publicly about her hopes of raising a large family in the future. Having grown up with five siblings, she has expressed that the close bond within her family inspired her dream of creating a similarly lively household with Adam.
