Television presenter Alex Jones has opened up about a pivotal early moment in her relationship with husband Charlie Thomson, revealing there was uncertainty over whether he would remain in the UK during the early stages of their romance.
Jones, 49, and insurance broker Charlie first met in 2011 and later married at Cardiff Castle in December 2015. As their relationship developed, Charlie—who is originally from New Zealand—considered returning to his home country, creating what Jones described as an uncertain period in their future together.
The presenter shared that the couple has since built a stable family life, noting that Charlie ultimately chose to stay in the UK. She expressed appreciation for the decision, highlighting that it allowed them to build their life together and raise their children in Britain.
The couple are parents to three children: Teddy, Kit, and Annie. Jones has often spoken about how family life has become central to her priorities, and she reflected that becoming a mother later in her thirties felt like the right timing for her personal journey. She added that life unfolded at a pace that suited their circumstances, allowing them to focus on travel, home life, and stability before starting a family.
Originally based in west London, the family relocated in 2024 to a quieter village setting in Berkshire. The move followed a long search for a home that would offer more outdoor space and a closer connection to nature while still keeping London within reach for work commitments.
Jones described the transition as a significant decision, emphasizing the importance of giving their children room to grow up in a more natural environment. Despite the challenges of moving after many years in the city, the family has embraced their new surroundings and settled into life outside the capital.
