Amal Clooney has spoken candidly about one of the biggest changes she faced after marrying Hollywood star George Clooney, revealing that maintaining a clear separation between her professional and private life became nearly impossible once she entered the global spotlight.
The internationally respected human rights lawyer reflected on how her life transformed after meeting George in 2013 and marrying him the following year. Before their relationship, she said it was easy to keep her legal career and personal life separate, allowing each to exist independently.
That changed significantly after the couple married. Amal explained that the increased public attention initially made her more aware of how every public appearance could be viewed, especially while continuing to work in courtrooms and other professional settings.
She admitted there was a period when she questioned simple decisions, including what she wore or how she appeared in public, knowing those moments could receive widespread media attention while she was also representing clients in serious legal matters.
Over time, however, Amal said she realized that personal happiness and family life were more important than worrying about public perception. She explained that she refused to let outside opinions prevent her from supporting her marriage, raising her children, or enjoying meaningful moments with loved ones.
George and Amal, who married in 2014, welcomed twins Alexander and Ella in 2017. Since becoming parents, they have remained committed to shielding their children from public exposure and preserving as much privacy as possible.
The couple has consistently avoided sharing photographs of their children and has taken additional measures to keep family life away from unwanted attention. One of those measures includes asking visitors to place their mobile phones aside during gatherings to ensure private family moments remain just that—private.
Amal has also acknowledged that maintaining personal boundaries has become increasingly challenging in the digital age. She said creating spaces where family and close friends can spend time together without distractions or public scrutiny has become a priority.
Parenthood, she added, has heightened her concerns about privacy, making it even more important to minimize the impact of public attention on their children.
The Clooney family spends much of its time at its historic estate in Provence, France. The expansive property includes vineyards, a swimming pool, tennis courts, and guest accommodations. In addition to their French residence, George and Amal also own homes in England, Italy, California, and New York, allowing them to divide their time between work and family commitments around the world.
