Rojava University organised a ceremony for 435 graduating students at the Freedom Park in Qamishlo. The students graduated from the faculties of Kurdish Literature, Fine Arts, Social Sciences, Jineoloji, History, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Micatronics, Communication, Petrochemistry and Agricultural Engineering.
The event was attended by the people, the families of the students, Semîra Hac Elî, Co-Chair of the Education and Training Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Evîn Siwêd and Hisên Osman, Co-Chairs of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Telat Yûnis, Co-Chair of the Executive Council of the Cizîr Canton, university professors, intellectuals and academics.
Wearing traditional clothes and yellow, red and green shawls around their necks, the students carried the pictures of martyrs in the magnificent march they staged.
Making the first speech, Evîn Ehmed, member of the Executive Board of Rojava University, stated that difficulties are not an obstacle in front of the students and said, “Today, students are rewriting their science and knowledge through history.”
Xelîl Elî, member of the Union of Universities in North and East Syria, addressed the students and said: “You will build an honourable and democratic life. You are the future of this society. Our hope for you is great. We congratulate you on your graduation.”
Hisên Osman also congratulated the students and said, “This graduation is a historical stage and tells about our power that knowledge reveals.”
After the speeches, Evîn Siwêd, Hisên Osman and university faculty members took the stage. They read the names of the graduating students, congratulated them and gave them their diplomas.
At the end of the event, artists Nesrîn Botan and Xêro Abas sang their songs.
