Edinburgh, Scotland — Television antiques specialist Theo Burrell has married her partner of 13 years in a private ceremony, marking a personal milestone amid her ongoing health journey. The wedding took place on 28 March in Edinburgh, surrounded by close family and friends.
Burrell, known for her appearances on Antiques Roadshow, exchanged vows with her partner Alex after more than a decade together. The couple, who share a young son named Jonah, celebrated the occasion in an intimate setting focused on family and support.

The bride wore a white sequined gown, while Alex opted for a dark grey suit. Reflecting on the day, Burrell described the ceremony as joyful and meaningful, noting that becoming husband and wife after many years together brought a special sense of happiness.
The celebration came against the backdrop of Burrell’s ongoing battle with a serious illness. She was diagnosed in June 2022 with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, at the age of 35. Her diagnosis followed a series of symptoms, including severe headaches, nausea, vision disturbances, tinnitus, and neurological sensations.
Ongoing Health Challenges
Following her diagnosis, Burrell underwent surgery and chemotherapy, which initially led to stable scan results. However, in December 2024, medical imaging revealed that the tumour had returned, prompting further treatment.

In a recent update, she acknowledged the physical toll of both the illness and its treatment, including fatigue and the side effects of steroid medication. Despite these challenges, she has been gradually resuming light physical activity and spending time outdoors when possible.
Burrell indicated that a follow-up medical scan is scheduled in the near future, though she has chosen to focus on recovery from the wedding celebrations for now.
Advocacy and Awareness
Alongside her television career, Burrell has become an advocate for brain tumour awareness and research. She currently serves as a patron for a leading brain tumour charity and has taken part in fundraising initiatives, including a month-long fitness challenge aimed at supporting research efforts.
She has also spoken about the need for continued scientific progress, highlighting the importance of translating advancements in research into accessible treatments for patients.
Her wedding marks a moment of celebration during a challenging period, underscoring both her resilience and the support of those closest to her.
