A group including politicians, civil society representatives, journalists, and writers set off from Amed to attend the guerrilla disarmament ceremony in Southern Kurdistan, which is set to take place tomorrow, July 11.

A group of around 150 people set off from Amed (tr: Diyarbakır) for Southern Kurdistan (Northern Iraq) to attend the disarmament ceremony by a group of guerrillas on Friday.

The group includes Co-Chairs of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar and Keskin Bayındır; the People’s Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Women’s Assembly Spokesperson Halide Türkoğlu; Democratic Alevi Associations (DAD) Co-Chair Zeynel Kete; Association of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD) Co-Chair Ekin Yeter, and representatives from MED TUHAD-FED (MED Federation of Legal Support and Solidarity Associations for Families of Detained and Convicted Persons).

After gathering in front of the Amed Stadium in the district of Kayapınar, the group left for Southern Kurdistan.
