Former Conservative MP Craig Mackinlay has been formally introduced in the House of Lords as Baron Mackinlay of Richborough.
By taking up his peerage he becomes the first quadruple amputee to sit in the Lords. Mackinlay lost his hands and feet after suffering a life-threatening episode of sepsis last year.
He returned to the House of Commons in May this year after being fitted with prosthetic legs and hands but stood down at the general election.
He was given a peerage in Rishi Sunak’s dissolution honours list.
