Britney Spears was absent from a rare public reunion of the Spears family as relatives gathered to celebrate the high school graduation of her niece, Maddie Aldridge. Among those attending the graduation ceremony were Britney’s parents, Jamie and Lynne Spears, her sister Jamie Lynn Spears, and Britney’s eldest son, Sean Preston Federline. The event centered on 17-year-old Maddie, the daughter of Jamie Lynn, as she marked the milestone surrounded by family members.
Jamie Lynn appeared emotional during the celebration and was seen wearing a black mini dress paired with oversized white puff sleeves. Lynne Spears chose a cream-colored outfit with a coordinating blazer for the event.
Jamie Spears, who underwent a leg amputation in 2023 following a severe infection, attended in a grey suit and used a wheelchair during the ceremony. Jamie Lynn’s younger daughter, eight-year-old Ivey Watson, was also seen helping push her grandfather through the crowd.
Sean Preston Federline, now 20, attended in casual attire and was photographed holding up a picture of his cousin during the commencement activities.
Despite the family gathering, Britney Spears did not appear to be present. Her absence comes during a difficult period for the singer, who has recently faced renewed attention following legal issues earlier this year.
The pop star reportedly accepted a plea agreement tied to a DUI-related arrest in March, pleading guilty to a reduced “wet reckless” charge. Under the agreement, she is expected to complete a three-month alcohol education program and was placed on informal probation.
Britney’s attorney, Michael Goldstein, stated after the court proceedings that the singer had accepted responsibility for the incident and had begun taking steps toward positive personal changes.
Relations within the Spears family have remained strained since the termination of Britney’s conservatorship in 2021. The singer previously accused several family members, including her father Jamie Spears and sister Jamie Lynn Spears, of benefiting from the legal arrangement that governed much of her personal and financial life for more than a decade.
In recent years, there have been occasional signs of improved communication between family members, though public appearances involving the entire family have remained uncommon.
