A joyful celebration was held in Raqqa to mark the 11th anniversary of the establishment of the Women’s Internal Security Forces in North and East Syria. The celebration was attended by representatives of the Autonomous Administration, YPJ fighters, members of the Women’s Internal Security Forces, the Syrian Women’s Council, the Zenûbiya Women’s Community Council, the Future of Syria Party, and numerous representatives of civil society organizations.

The celebration began with a military ceremony by members of the Women’s Internal Security Forces and a moment of silence for the martyrs.

Gulistan Gulo, a member of Kongra Star, gave a speech emphasizing that the Women’s Internal Security Forces have become a symbol of the struggle to ensure the safety of women and the communities of North and East Syria.

Gulistan Gulo commemorated Martyr Zîlan (Zeynep Kınacı) on the 29th anniversary of her martyrdom and pointed out that the formation of women’s security and military forces was inspired by Martyr Zîlan’s legacy of resistance.

Gulistan Gulo stated that Zîlan’s action of self-sacrifice was a major turning point in the struggle for women’s freedom, and that this line of resistance is being carried on today by Kurdish women and women around the world.

After the speeches, participants continued the celebrations by dancing to music.
