The upcoming adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel stars Daisy as Elinor Dashwood alongside George MacKay. The film is directed by Georgia Oakley, while novelist Diana Reid adapted the screenplay for the new production.
Set in Georgian England, the story follows sisters Elinor and Marianne Dashwood after the death of their father leaves their family facing financial hardship. As they adjust to a dramatically different life, the sisters must navigate love, social expectations, and the search for stability.
The production comes from the team behind acclaimed literary adaptations including the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice and the 2020 film Emma. The latest interpretation of Austen’s beloved novel has been described as a fresh and engaging retelling that highlights the timeless themes of romance, resilience, and sisterhood.
Sense and Sensibility, first published in 1811, has inspired multiple film and television adaptations over the years. Among the most celebrated remains the Academy Award-winning 1995 film directed by Ang Lee, starring Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet, followed by the popular 2008 television adaptation featuring Hattie Morahan and Charity Wakefield.
