‘Days of Dialogue with Öcalan’ event in Belgium

A ‘Days of Dialogue with Öcalan’ event was held for the second time in Belgium as part of the “Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, a Political Solution to the Kurdish Question” campaign.

As part of the ‘Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, a Political Solution to the Kurdish Question’ campaign launched globally a year ago, an internationalist group evaluated Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan’s books on the paradigm of democratic modernity for the second time in Belgium. The subject of the ‘Dialogues with Öcalan’ event this time was the cooperative and commune system.

Stressing the importance of dialogue with Abdullah Öcalan, politician Şîlan Amed said: “In the current century, crisis, chaos and unrest are deepening and the capitalist system, which is based only on making money for itself, leaves no value behind. It has severed the relationship between man and man, man and nature. For this reason, Leader Öcalan’s democratic nation paradigm based on women’s freedom and the protection of nature is being discussed as a solution all over the world. Because democratic confederalism includes all the colours and voices of life. When we look at Leader Öcalan’s defences, he clearly tells us this: people can govern themselves without a state. The most obvious example of this is Rojava. For this reason, the defences we have at our disposal today are being evaluated and researched all over the world.”

Gulistan Ehmed, a member of the Kongra Star Economy Committee, participated via Zoom. Ehmed gave information to the participants on the implementation of co-operative and communal life in Rojava, and mentioned the difficulties experienced in this regard.

Gulistan Ehmed said: “Öcalan’s defences have become a basic guide for us and should be applied wherever possible. Today, thanks to those co-operatives, thousands of women have been able to leave their homes, have an independent economy, contribute to their families and children, and most importantly, establish a connection with the land. Since the commune is a return to the community, the commune is formed according to what the community needs.”

After the speeches, questions were asked about communes and co-operatives. The event lasted about two hours.

Days of Dialogue with Leader Öcalan will continue in the coming days with different topics.
