The Imrali delegation of the DEM Party is scheduled to visit Abdullah Öcalan in prison on Imrali this week. The meeting will be the first gathering within the framework of the new parliamentary commission for a solution to the Kurdish question.

A delegation from the Peoples’ Party for Equality and Democracy (DEM) is set to visit Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan on the Turkish prison island of Imrali this week.
The meeting is to take place within the framework of the work of the recently established parliamentary commission for “National Solidarity, Fraternity and Democracy.” It will be the first meeting to take place on Imrali as part of this commission’s work.
The Imrali delegation consists of DEM Party MPs Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar, as well as lawyer Faik Özgür Erol from the Istanbul-based Asrin Law Office, which represents Öcalan and his fellow prisoners on Imrali. A specific date for the meeting has not yet been announced.
According to party sources, Öcalan is expected to issue statements on the role of the commission and on questions surrounding the disarmament of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which he founded.
