AKP President Tayyip Erdoğan announced at a meeting marking the 24th anniversary of his party’s founding that the “Peace and Democratic Society Process” would enter a new phase.
“Let’s strengthen our eternal brotherhood,” said Erdoğan, suggesting that significant progress had been made in the process.
Erdoğan said, “Our hope is that this constructive atmosphere will be preserved. The People’s Alliance has made it clear that it is in favor of a solution. We sincerely hope that other parties will act with the same good intentions. We do not have to agree on everything, but we are obliged to make a ‘Turkey without terrorism’ a reality. Everyone who contributes to this process will go down in history. Neither this nation nor future generations will forgive those who try to derail the issue with populist attitudes. We will not turn a deaf ear to constructive criticism, but we will not tolerate destructive criticism or perception operations.”
Erdoğan said, “While a new play is being staged in our region, a new equation is being established in the world,” and continued: “Those responsible for Gaza do not even feel the need to hide their intentions towards our country. We are all witnessing the signs of these anti-Turkey policies. We possess the power and determination to break through these siege attempts. We are thwarting these efforts which are aimed at weakening our country from within and undermining it from outside. We are committed to establishing a belt of stability. We are now preparing to take another step forward.”
The President added, “We will gradually implement the reform program aimed at more democracy, more freedom, and a more effective state in the coming period. With the ‘Turkey Century’ reform program, we will move much faster towards our goals.”
