It is reported that diesel fuel has not been allowed to enter the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah neighborhoods of Aleppo for about a week.

Elif Eslen, Co-Chair of the Fuel Committee for the two neighborhoods, said that the embargo imposed by the Syrian Transitional Government has brought transportation to a standstill.

Eslen pointed out that this measure is reminiscent of the policies of the former Baath regime, saying, “The administration may have changed, but the mindset remains the same. Winter is approaching, and if this problem is not resolved, the people will face serious hardship.”

Elif Eslen emphasized that the current fuel supply is only sufficient to meet the needs of health institutions, service units, and generators, and it is not enough to meet the other needs of the public. She noted that there are no longer any possibilities for preparing for winter through storage.

Elif Eslen recalled that the 14-point agreement signed on April 1 was violated, and this situation threatened the security and social peace of the region.
