The Press Center of the People’s Defense Forces (HPG) said in a statement that a guerrilla unit attacked the Turkish invasion troops in South Kurdistan from the air. The air strike on 19 September was directed at the construction of military roads for the occupation of the contested Girê Bahar area on the western front of the Zap region. According to the HPG, an excavator was hit, and a soldier was killed. The action was carried out by the guerrilla unit Şehîd Axîn Mûş.

Guerrilla resistance in Xakurke, Metîna and Zap

The HPG also reported several attacks with semi-automatic and heavy weapons in the Zap, Metîna and Xakurke regions. According to the statement, “Turkish occupation forces in the Girê Amêdî, Serê Metîna and Girê Şehîd Hêmin areas were targeted six times in the past two days by fighters from the Free Women’s Units (YJA Star) and HPG. The interventions stopped the construction of a position and the felling of trees.”

Attacks by the Turkish army

The HPG also wrote about the latest attacks by the Turkish army, and said that Girê Amêdî was bombed by attack helicopters on Friday and that a total of 18 air strikes with fighter jets on areas in the Xakurke, Gare, Metîna and Zap regions were detected between 18 and 20 September.
