More than two decades after Hilary Duff became synonymous with the beloved Disney character Lizzie McGuire, the actress and singer is getting a playful reminder of that era from the next generation of her own family.
Duff’s five-year-old daughter, Mae, recently drew comparisons to her famous mother after appearing in a family photo with a hairstyle strikingly similar to one Duff wore during her years as Lizzie McGuire. The sweet resemblance was highlighted by Mae’s father, musician Matthew Koma, who shared the images on Instagram Stories on August 30.
According to HELLO!, reporter Nicola Conville, Koma first posted a photo of Mae smiling at the dinner table with her blonde hair arranged into two tiny space buns. He then followed the family snapshot with images of Duff wearing an almost identical hairstyle during her time playing Lizzie McGuire more than 20 years ago.
The comparison was difficult to miss. Mae’s blonde hair, bright smile and playful expression echoed the youthful look that helped make Lizzie one of the most recognizable characters of the early Disney Channel era.
For Duff, the moment represents a particularly fitting piece of family nostalgia.
