The “Freedom for Warisha Moradi” campaign stated that Warisha Moradi, a member of the Free Women’s Community of Eastern Kurdistan (KJAR), is still being denied medical care after being transferred from Evin Prison in Tehran to Qarchak Prison in Varamin.
The Kurdish political prisoner, who suffers from a herniated disc, spinal canal stenosis, and severe numbness in her hands, is being held in Qarchak Prison without access to medical care. The campaign stated that after the transfer, severe pain in the neck area and permanent numbness in the fingers increased significantly, leading to a further deterioration in her physical condition.
The Kurdish activist, with limited resources in prison, secured her arm with a scarf with the help of another prisoner who had knowledge of physiotherapy.
In May, prison officials wanted to take Moradi to the doctor in handcuffs and chains, but she refused this treatment.
According to an assessment carried out by a specialist doctor in October and November 2024, Warisha Moradi is in need of urgent surgery, but this operation has not yet been performed and only painkillers have been administered. The campaign reported that the stomach problems caused by her hunger strike last year have worsened in recent weeks due to unhealthy food in prison.
The “Freedom for Warisha Moradi” campaign warned that any and all responsibility for the lives of the prisoners lies with the authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Qarchak Prison.
The campaign called on the public, civil society organizations, and local and international human rights organizations to remain vigilant regarding the situation of detainees in need of medical treatment, particularly those transferred from Evin Prison. The campaign also urged the media to contribute to preventing an irreversible disaster.
