The Internal Security Forces of Northern and Eastern Syria captured three armed individuals who were targeting security forces in Deir ez-Zor Canton. It was stated that the individuals, who were reportedly affiliated with Damascus government-backed groups, were directly involved in previous attacks.
In a statement on its website, the Internal Security Forces announced that in an operation conducted by the Anti-Terrorist Units (H.A.T), two armed individuals were captured, as well as Abu Michel al-Bukhari, who was reportedly responsible for the Damascus government-backed armed groups. The operation was carried out in northern Deir ez-Zor in cooperation with the General Security Authority.
The statement indicated that the individuals captured had previously taken part in attacks against the Internal Security Forces, causing turmoil in the region, and engaging in illegal armed activities. It was also stated that the individuals fled to areas under the control of the Damascus government during the Permanent Security Operation, but returned to carry out new attacks.
The statement said that the individuals were caught in an operation while they were secretly visiting their families, and that legal proceedings will be initiated following a preliminary investigation.
The statement also said that two explosions, one targeting a civilian vehicle and the other targeting a military vehicle, occurred in the region last week, and that there were martyrs and injuries in these attacks.
