Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid said they fully support the peace process between the Kurdish people and the Turkish state.

Speaking at the 80th UN General Assembly, Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid announced their support for the initiative launched by the PKK for the peace process.
Rashid stated that the Iraqi people are preparing for the sixth parliamentary elections, which will take place in a sensitive atmosphere. He expressed that despite the ISIS attacks and crises in the region, the elections will be a positive step towards resolving the problems in Iraq and the Middle East.
Referring to relations with neighboring countries, Rashid said, “Iraq fully supports the peace process between the Kurdish people and the Turkish state. Iraq welcomes the initiative launched by the PKK for the peace process. A new process has begun in political efforts.”
