Following the accident in Antakya, ISIG issued a statement saying that at least 2,664 young workers have lost their lives in the last 12 years.

On 1 March, a service vehicle carrying factory workers collided with a truck in Hatay (Antakya). 14-year-old Ahmet Koçak, 17-year-old Ömer Erdoğan and Ahmet Akarsu, 18-year-old Mehmet Albayrak, 20-year-old Ömer Albayrak and 23-year-old Halil Albayrak lost their lives.
Following the accident, the Health and Safety Labor Observatory (ISIG) issued a statement underlining that secure job opportunities should be provided for young people.
According to the statement, at least 2,664 young workers (including 230 girls) have lost their lives in the last 12 years.
ISIG called for measures to be taken: “Education should be free. Vocational training should be restructured. Streets should be cleared of drugs and gangs. Secure jobs should be provided for our young people! Occupational health and safety measures should be taken throughout the entire process, from workplaces to transportation and accommodation!”
