WASHINGTON, D.C. — Ivanka Trump has addressed why her husband, Jared Kushner, was missing from a recent Father’s Day family gathering, sharing a heartfelt message that emphasized the importance of family connections even when loved ones cannot be physically present.
The former White House adviser posted a collection of photos on Instagram from a Father’s Day weekend spent at Camp David in Maryland alongside her father, President Donald Trump, her siblings, their spouses, and their children.
The images featured Ivanka’s three children—Arabella, 13, Joseph, 10, and Theodore, 8—enjoying time with their grandfather during the family retreat. Other moments captured included horseback riding, outdoor activities, and family meals shared at the historic presidential retreat.
In her caption, Ivanka reflected on the significance of spending Father’s Day together while acknowledging Jared Kushner’s absence.
She explained that although her husband was unable to attend, his absence was intentional and did not lessen his presence within the family. She also shared that, over time, she has come to appreciate that lasting family memories are often created through everyday experiences, from conversations around the dinner table to simple moments spent together.
Ivanka concluded her message by expressing gratitude for fathers who continue to guide and support their families through both their presence and personal sacrifices.
The Camp David gathering also included several members of the Trump family. Tiffany Trump attended with her husband, Michael Boulos, and their young son, Alexander. Donald Trump Jr. was also present alongside his wife, Bettina Anderson, as the extended family celebrated the holiday together.
While Ivanka did not explain the specific reason behind Kushner’s absence, it comes as he and Ivanka continue to attract attention over their proposed luxury resort development on Albania’s Sazan Island.
The planned project has generated significant debate because the island is known for its ecological importance and protected natural environment. Environmental groups and demonstrators have raised concerns that large-scale construction could threaten the area’s biodiversity, leading to public protests across Albania.
Ivanka previously discussed how the couple first discovered Sazan Island during a yacht trip in 2021. She recalled swimming ashore and hiking across the island, saying the location immediately left a lasting impression and inspired their long-term vision for a luxury destination.
Despite ongoing criticism from environmental activists and opposition groups, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has continued to support the multi-billion-euro investment, arguing that the development represents a major economic opportunity for the country.
Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner have been married since 2009 and are parents to three children. The couple has largely maintained a lower public profile in recent years while focusing on family life and private business ventures.
