Jenna Bush Hager is opening up about the latest trend making its way into her household — and it is one she would rather her children leave at school.
During a recent episode of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, the television host shared that her children have started calling her “Biggie,” a nickname inspired by internet slang that has apparently become popular among kids.
Jenna, who shares daughters Mila, 13, and Poppy, 10, along with six-year-old son Hal, with her husband Henry Hager, said the phrase quickly spread throughout the family.
According to Jenna, the nickname first came from her oldest daughter, Mila, who picked it up at school before introducing it at home. The host joked that the term has become so common that even her youngest child now uses it casually.
She explained that the nickname is derived from the slang expression “Big Back,” though Mila shortened it to “Biggie.” While Jenna admitted she initially found the wordplay amusing, she said she has since tried to stop her children from using it so often.
The longtime morning show personality also shared that the teasing and honesty from her children extends beyond playful nicknames.
Earlier this year, Jenna revealed that Mila offered blunt feedback while she was preparing to interview Queen Camilla during the royal’s visit to New York.
Jenna recalled feeling pressure ahead of the appearance, which included moderating a panel discussion and formally introducing the Queen. As she practiced her remarks, Mila reportedly told her she was focusing too much on herself in the speech.
The advice prompted Jenna to revise her introduction before the event. She also said her daughter critiqued her hairstyle before the interview.
Despite the criticism, Jenna later received an encouraging message from Mila after the event concluded. The host shared that her daughter sent her a brief but meaningful note expressing pride in her accomplishment — something Jenna said was especially touching coming from her teenager.
Jenna noted that the experience reminded her how valuable honest feedback from family can be, even when it comes unexpectedly.
The television host’s meeting with Queen Camilla also marked a reunion more than a decade after the royal previously visited the White House during the administration of former President George W. Bush. During that earlier visit, Jenna and Henry attended a White House dinner alongside the royal couple and former First Lady Laura Bush.
During their latest appearance together, Jenna and Queen Camilla discussed their shared appreciation for books and reading, with the Queen reflecting on how literature has the ability to connect people across different backgrounds and experiences.
