Referring to the guerrillas’ disarmament ceremony, Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç said, “This is a day that will not be forgotten. We have a lot of work to do in the coming period.”

Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç made statements regarding the PKK’s weapons destruction ceremony, held in Sulaymaniyah province in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq earlier today. He said that it was a historic day for Turkey, and a historic development for the process.
Tunç stated, “Today is a day that will never be forgotten in our history. We have a lot of work to do in the coming period. Of course, this process will be monitored. The commission will make its contributions. All political parties will express their views and thoughts on the process in this commission. For sure, there may be positive contributions and criticism. Our nation will benefit from all of this and appreciate those who contribute to the process. Politics will also benefit from this; everyone will benefit. Our nation will take a step toward a peaceful future.”
Speaking about the commission to be established in parliament in relation to the process, Tunç said, “All views will be represented there, political parties will contribute to the process. This atmosphere will also be of great benefit in terms of strengthening and consolidating our internal front. This process will not only lead to the success of the process but also reinforce the ground for dialogue on many issues that are currently seen as problems and debated in domestic politics.”
The Minister of Justice warned that “those who would want to disrupt this process and sabotage it and evil forces from inside and outside that do not want Turkey to progress may again come into play”, adding: “We must be very careful.”
