Kelly Ripa shared a humorous memory about leaving husband Mark Consuelos in charge of their three children for the first time while she traveled for work, revealing she once arranged babysitters in rotating shifts to help manage the household.

During a recent episode of the daytime talk show LIVE, Ripa recalled filming a project in Chicago when their youngest son, Joaquin, was still an infant. She explained that Joaquin was only about six months old at the time, prompting her to organize babysitters to work extended shifts while she was away.

Ripa said the experience quickly highlighted how unfamiliar Consuelos was with the day-to-day routines of caring for the children on his own. According to her account, one babysitter was still present when she returned home several days later and jokingly warned her that she “couldn’t die” because Consuelos did not know where anything in the house was kept.
The story drew laughter from the audience and quickly sparked reactions online from parents who related to the situation. Many social media users shared similar experiences, commenting on how some fathers struggle with household routines and childcare logistics despite observing them daily.
Long-Running Relationship and Family Life
Ripa and Consuelos married in 1996 after meeting on the set of the soap opera All My Children. The couple eloped in Las Vegas and later welcomed three children together: Michael, Lola and Joaquin.

Their eldest son, Michael, works behind the scenes in television production and has contributed to projects connected to The Real Housewives franchise as well as the sitcom The Goldbergs. Daughter Lola is pursuing a music career while based in London.
Joaquin, the youngest of the three, is preparing for an acting role in Hulu’s pilot Foster Dade, an adaptation of Nash Jenkins’ novel Foster Dade Explores the Cosmos.
Earlier this month, Ripa and Consuelos also celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary during an episode of their talk show. The couple reflected on the longevity of their relationship, joking about how unexpected their marriage once seemed when they first met as young actors.
Ripa described marrying Consuelos as one of the best decisions of her life, while Consuelos admitted he had not seriously considered marriage before proposing. Their playful exchange continued the lighthearted dynamic the pair often display publicly after three decades together.
