Kelly Ripa has been playfully pushing for her husband, Mark Consuelos, to take on one of cinema’s most iconic roles—James Bond. The lighthearted exchange took place during a recent episode of their daytime talk show, where the couple discussed the ongoing search for the next actor to portray the British spy.
The conversation turned to the future of the long-running franchise, which is currently in casting discussions for its next lead. During the segment, Ripa encouraged Consuelos to strike a Bond-style pose, prompting a brief on-air moment where he was shown in a tuxedo through a digitally created image. Consuelos, however, quickly dismissed the idea of stepping into the role.
He made it clear that playing James Bond was not something he was interested in, instead joking that he could see himself as a Bond villain rather than the iconic secret agent. Ripa, meanwhile, continued to praise his appearance, insisting he had the look for the part, though he remained unconvinced.
As the discussion continued, Ripa suggested another name she believed could suit the role, pointing to actor Matt Bomer as a strong candidate for a modern interpretation of James Bond. She described him as a fitting choice to carry the franchise forward.
Beyond the playful casting debate, Consuelos is currently focused on his stage work in the Broadway production Fallen Angels. The show began previews in late March, officially opened in April, and is scheduled for a limited run concluding in early June at the Todd Haimes Theatre.
