Kurdish civil rights activist Nawzad Bahrami remains detained in the Ministry of Intelligence’s detention facility in Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province, 14 days after his arrest, without access to legal representation or family visits, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) reported.

Bahrami, from the village of Darreh Tefi in Marivan, Kurdistan Province, was arrested on 11 February by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence at the Bashmagh border crossing upon his return from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

After his arrest, Bahrami was taken to the Ministry of Intelligence’s detention facility in Sanandaj.

He was arrested without a warrant and has since been denied family visits and access to legal representation.

Despite his family’s repeated attempts to obtain information about his fate, security and judicial authorities have refused to provide any clarification regarding his situation.
