The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN) reported that security forces detained Kurdish civil rights activist Haji-Mirzaei at his workplace in Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province on 15 October without a warrant and transferred him to an undisclosed location.
Despite repeated enquiries with security and judicial institutions, Haji-Mirzaei’s family has not received any explanation or response regarding his situation.
Haji-Mirzaei was previously arrested on 16 September 2023, during the first anniversary of the state killing of Jina Mahsa Amini, and was later released on bail after several weeks in detention.
Subsequently, the Islamic Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj sentenced him to five years of suspended imprisonment on charges of “acting against national security” through alleged collaboration with a Kurdish opposition party.
